We need friendly FCC faces to volunteer for our Community House Fest on August 31. Last year's volunteers will tell you we had a blast! You Matter 2 Inc. is a local organization that inspires and empowers youth to be world changers. They are a wonderful asset to youth in our community and we are thrilled to share our space with them for their meetings and events throughout the year. They will be hosting their 4th annual Back-to-School-Bash on Saturday, July 27. There they will offer free school supplies, food and games in addition to free dental, vision, healthcare exams and haircuts to over 500 K-12 students in the South Suburban area. FCC will be collecting school supplies to contribute to their efforts through July 26. Bins will be available to drop off supplies in Youth Crossings. Thank you for any and all donations to this very worthy ministry!

Because the parable of the original Good Samaritan continually chal-lenges us. Challenges us to view all humankind—even strangers and enemies—as neighbors God expects us to love as ourselves. Challenges us to be inherently compassionate, merciful, kind, humble, meek, patient, forgiving, and loving. Challenges us to go and do like the Good Samari-tan—to go and extend compassionate hospitality—when it comes to our theological perspectives, to the political views and decisions that we endorse, to our social interactions, to the way we share our wealth, to putting into action not only what we say we believe but, more important, putting into action what Jesus regularly has to say about loving God and neighbor, about God’s will being done on earth as it is in heaven". Growing In Spirit Together (GIST) Led by Pastor Fred Lyon This Wednesday, July 17 at 7 p.m. in the Parlor Those interested in growing as followers of Jesus in relation to the activities of Spiritual Formation, Prayer and Meditation, and Faith in Action are invited to learn more about these activities and discern their impact on our personal journeys of faith. GIST meets every 4 to 6 weeks so that everyone has some time between meetings to explore how they are growing before returning to share our discoveries and challenges with one another. Come join us!

From Pastor Fred Lyon's sermon this #PastSunday: Celebrating true, mutually shared communion that cherishes diversity and provides places of welcome and encouragement to all God’s children starts with breaking bread and sharing the cup to remember that for all our differences, every one of us stands in the common dire need of a Savior who cherishes, welcomes, and encourages us. It then continues with being thankful. The communion table beckons with a holy welcome that is cause for us being all together thankful for grace received— • grace, which Lenny Duncan describes is “like a knife” that “can cut instantly through years of shame and brokenness to release us from those bonds,” • grace that equips us to serve God and neighbor with deep gladness and renewed purpose, • grace that pours forth with such abundance from this table that we have cause to be all together thankful wherever we go within and beyond this sanctuary. Come to this table mindful that Eucharist means “giving thanks.” Come to this table all together thankful that there is grace enough for everyone to have a place at the table, no matter who you are, or where you’re from, or what you’ve done. Thank you to everyone who donated water & paper products for our neighbors in University Park and thank you to the Board of Faith in Action for organizing the drive. All of this was delivered to the village today after worship!

Just an FYI ... the Air Conditioning is fixed and the Sanctuary will be all ready for you tomorrow morning! Also, don't forget the Water Drive (gallon jugs and cases of water will be accepted, as well as hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, disposable plates, cups, bowls, and cutlery)
